Our Story

Aloha Friday is a beachside suburban coffee stop a stone's throw from the now bustling Porirua CBD. Head West my friend and you will find the Brown Lightning at the end of the rainbow. At the Northern end of the Titahi Bay, 24 Bay Drive.

My name is Chris Tupu and alongside my wife Tania Tupu we have set up this local coffee store in the suburbs, purely focused on serving up hot cups of goodness seven days a week since Dec 2020 in the burbs!!

Having come from sporting background’s and both played basketball for NZ we have been fortunate to visit many countries throughout our careers and have a healthy love for good coffee, having tried plenty in our travels. In sport and life, we’re always up for a challenge and setting up Aloha Friday immediately following the first lockdown from the Covid-19 pandemic seemed like a great idea and certainly threw up some new challenges. Our vision for Aloha Friday Coffee + Gallery is for great coffee, friendly service, regular opening hours with some fantastic gift options.

We are proud to be part of the suburban renaissance that seems to be happening around the Motu at the moment. Coffee, slices, ice creams provide a steady stream of locals throughout Titahi Bay. Aloha Friday also offers up designs from local jeweller and business partner former Tall Fern Tania Tupu. Other items include a small range of carefully selected homewares, soft furnishings, quality books and other bits and bobs. It would seem after a busy 1st year that Coffee and Jewellery can operate in harmony in a suburban environment. With a strong community following in these early stages, the signs are promising for the future.

Lastly, we want to thank all of the loyal locals and visitors who have really gotten behind the business and made their way through the doors into Aloha Friday.
